Alexander & Douglas tallcase

19" x 90"

Here is a beautiful example of an early Scottish tallcase clock. The dial is especially stunning with vivid colors, depicting Queen Mary escaping Lochleven Castle. The hand painted dial also includes representations of the four seasons in each corner and is signed Alexander and Douglas of Kilmarnock.

The case has broken arch with scroll pediment, crotch mahogany and inlay. The calendar only moves manually. There is a sub-seconds dial and the hands are beautifully engraved.

  • Beautifully painted dial
  • Hour strike on bell
  • 8-day power reserve
  • Original, hand painted pendulum bob
  • Sub seconds
  • Manual calendar
  • Mahogany veneer
  • Scottish
